Hi! This is Reka, the newest addition to the team! I am a lifelong Alaskan; born in Kenai but living most of my life in Anchorage. As a child I spent most of my summers fishing on the Kenai River and playing on the Homer Spit. My father was a fishing guide and a boat builder, which brought my family to the Kenai Peninsula during the summer months; it was a great way to grow up! I am 1 of 7 siblings, with 4 sisters and 2 brothers, so family is a very important part of my life. I have been with my husband, Paul, since 1997. We have a cat, Bodie, and a dog, Jersey, who is my baby! I am a huge animal lover, always trying to place unwanted animals in good stable homes and I spend much of my free time doing volunteer work. I also enjoy reading, hiking, snowshoe, Frisbee, watching sports (basketball, football, cycling) with my husband (Go Notre Dame!) and long walks with my dog.
I come to the dentistry world via the tech sector, where I worked as an Office Manager/Human Resource Officer for 9 years. So how did I get into dentistry? Well…as a patient of Dr. Johnson’s, I was told by Eileen, one of our dental assistants, that I would do well in the dental world. A few years later I ran into Jill while having dinner out, she told me of an opening, and here I am!
My favorite aspect of dentistry is definitely the patients. When a fearful patient calls and I am able to help alleviate their concerns, I feel a tremendous amount of pride and satisfaction. After we see these patients, they usually comment about how painless and comfortable their appointment was, which is truly the best complement we could receive.
I really can’t say enough about how amazing this team is; I’ve never worked with such a dynamic and energetic group of people, and I feel truly blessed to be part of the team!
