Dr. Kendall Skinner

Dr. Kendall Skinner graduated from Temple University School of Dentistry in 2004. He has over 20 years’ experience with a focus on dental implants, implant supported dentures also known as “All on X”, advanced surgical procedures, cosmetic smile makeovers and bite therapy (for TMJ). He is the most experienced GNM neuromuscular dentist in the state of Alaska. What that means is, Dr. Kendall suffers from severe TMJ dysfunction, and therefore he was motivated to go back to school to learn how to successfully treat it without surgery. He treats people of all ages and from all over the state for their TMJ symptoms. Also, to further ensure the comfort and safety of his patients, Dr. Kendall offers oral sedation and IV sedation.

His passion is making lasting connections with his patients. When he is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Kendall enjoys spending time with his family. They enjoy all things Alaska, including camping, hunting, fishing and pickle ball. He is an enthusiastic spectator of sports and you will often find him cheering for the underdogs in both the NFL and NBA finals.

Dr. Michael Fox

Dr. Michael J. Fox joined the Excellence in Dentistry team in 2020 following a long and varied career in dentistry. He graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry in 1995 and immediately completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency with the U.S. Air Force.

After spending a decade in private practice, Dr. Fox transitioned to public health dentistry. He served as Chief Dental Officer for rural community health center dental programs in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and later in Fairbanks, Alaska. In addition to being part of the Excellence in Dentistry team, Dr. Fox continues to serve patients one day a week at the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center dental clinic.

Dr. Fox takes an evidence-based approach to dentistry, following current best-practice recommendations and procedures to provide consistent, high-quality care. Since joining the practice, he has continued to expand his postgraduate education in general dentistry, dental implants, TMJ and bite therapy, and orthodontics.

He has completed a seven-course continuum through Occlusion Connections, with a focus on treating patients experiencing TMJ-related issues. He has also completed advanced training in Invisalign clear aligners and furthered his education in the orthodontic management of TMJ issues related to bite imbalances. This additional training gives patients seeking bite therapy another option for achieving long-term stability and relief from TMJ symptoms. Dr. Fox is the only general dentist in Alaska to have received formal training in this specific type of orthodontic treatment.

Originally from Southern California, Dr. Fox has lived and worked in locations around the world. He began his military service as an Air Force Pararescueman before transitioning to the U.S. Air Force Dental Corps. His experiences have taken him to the Middle East, Iceland, Guam, and numerous states across the U.S., and he now proudly calls Alaska his forever home.

Dr. Fox has two adult children who both live in Texas. Outside of dentistry, he enjoys ultradistance cycling and staying active and fit. In addition to his dental degree, he holds a Master of Science in Kinesiology and Sports Conditioning, is a certified NASM personal trainer, and holds a USA Cycling Level 2 coaching license.
